Visits

I really enjoy visiting schools and libraries—seriously, if I hadn’t started writing, I’d probably still be in school!

Presentations

Turning Real Life Into Fiction

I’ve been keeping a diary since my sophomore year in high school. In this presentation I demonstrate how my real life experiences show up in my novels (in a more exciting way). I also talk about my writing process, dealing with failure, learning to revise, and never giving up on your dreams. Presentation tailored for 3rd-5th grade, middle school, or high school.

Writing Workshops for Elementary School through High School

I love teaching students about the craft of writing fiction. Workshops include exercises about generating story ideas, creating unique characters, fun plots, and writing dialogue, action, and description. Presentation tailored for 3rd-5th grade, middle school, or high school.

Writing Workshops for Adult Writers

As a former Regional Advisor for the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI), I have spoken on a variety of topics including Submissions 101, Crafting a Novel, Generating Ideas, and Revision. I’m happy to create a new presentation for your conference or workshop.

Virtual Visits

I’d love to visit your classroom, library, or book club online. Twenty minute visits are free. Please contact me for information about longer presentations.
